Track of the Day

17 Sep

Bonnie Prince Billy (Will Oldham, born 15th January 1970).
Starting out as an actor, he was in a couple of films before becoming disillusioned with the Film Industry. Among them was the  John Sayles Film Matewan (1987) – the film dramatizes the events of the coal miners’ strike in 1920 in Matewan, a small town in the hills of West Virginia. He played the lead in Old Joy (2006), a critically acclaimed road movie about about two mates on a weekend camping trip in the Cascade Mountain Range.

Here’s a Bonnie Prince Billie track: New Whaling. A beautiful song with lacy guitar and haunting vocals.
